What's going on????

As I posted on my profile, I am currently in the Navy Reserves. A couples of weeks ago I heard about the Governments shutdown. It was hard to understand what they were talking about, then I was informed of what was going on. As me being a member of the military off course it was going to affect me. I got a letter from my command saying that I might have to keep going on my drill weekends without getting paid. As you might understand, taking time off from work and having to drive to be in a place where you're losing money just for being there and do NOTHING was kind of hard. I started doing some research, and came to the conclusion that this is really bad. What this country is going through right now is not easy. People are losing their jobs, they rate of homeless people is increasing and this scares me.

A Government shutdown has not been even thought of in many years. To me this means the Government is becoming unstable. Rivalry has always existed between political parties, but this is getting very bad. The two political parties not being able to come to any agreements, is affecting our country big time.

I think the Government should stop their differences outside, stop for a minute and realling think about how all their fighting is affecting us. It's not a game, they are running a whole nation. They're basically playing with our lifes. This is what this government needs right now, they need to focus on the main thing the sanity and stability of their own people!

Commentary On "Are We Really Giving a Helping Hand?"

While reviewing all editorials from my classmates, I found one that really interested me. The name of editorial is "Are We Really Giving a Helping Hand?" by Harry C. and he makes a good point talking on how the Government involvement on international affairs, such as Libya is not really helping. I completely agree with the involvement of Government in Libya it's only affecting our economy even more. I understand that as good Americans we're supposed to help out, but when it includes violence and dropping bombs in another country then that's different. I can just imagine if we were the ones being bombarded by a foreign country if we're struggling. I also think that if the Government knows how critical our economy situation is, then they should be smart enough to know that if you don't have money you can't spend it. You can't help someone else when you're obviously the one that needs help.

My classmate Harry did an amazing job in bringing up this point. It's sad but it's not the first time the Government does this. We're supposed to learn by experience, but apparently this is the case where we won't learn until something REALLY bad happens. So, as my classmate says "Let's hope for the best and prepare for the worst"!!

NEW PRESIDENT AT THE WRONG TIME!!

I remember when I first saw that Obama was running for president, I was in shock. To me having a black president was the sign of change! Something, good was about to happen. This is the mistake. Many of us don't realize that issues cannot be fix with magic. We thought the situation was going to change immediately. I finally came to realize that is not mostly the president, it is the people underneath him who govern this country. It's easy to judge and point fingers and blame everything on the head of our country (president Obama), not realizing that the issues are consequences of something that had already begun since our last president, Mr. Bush.

Everything that is going on in the U.S. is scary. High prices on gas again, uprising of middle eastern countries, creating a huge economical impact on the U.S. and natural catastrophes around the world that have added to this economical downfall. If we think about it, and put our feet in Obama's shoes, it's not easy to be the first black president, which already off course put a big weigh on him, because he did really want to make true his promises. All this is hard, when events that came as a consequence of the past running political party start to come out and create so much chaos in the world's economy.

The day when we all stop blaming each other for stuff and realize that our actions create reaction, then that day we will understand what the truth is, and what's really going on with our country and the world.
